In the evenings, our lovely venue will be transformed to an even more magical Garden. In our garden café, you will find delicious vegetarian food and snacks, with vegan as well as gluten and lactose free options.
For 2017, we will have live bands all three nights, and for the first time in Blues Garden history, Sunday is going to be a full night of music and dancing, so you will want to book Monday for travelling home.
Our opening act is a local favourite, led by stunning singer and eminent event organizer Kristin Ladström. Gustav Davidsson tickles the ivory and bends his trombone in style while Marcus Fenn handles both the bass, banjo and guitar with the same elegance and intense groove. The Sky Is Crying is a band made to play for blues dancers, as audiences around Sweden will testify to. They will deliver their unique brand of strong, soulful and stirring blues and ballads with a jazzy touch - a perfect start for a weekend of dancing and merrymaking.
In what is beginning to look suspiciously like tradition, Christoffer Johansson will once again perform for us in The Blues Garden, this time as our Saturday night act. He has ensorcelled thousands of dancers at events across Europe over the past few years and now makes a return to the site of his first appearance for dancers, his home stage of Gothenburg. With his authentic blues roots sounds, his humble yet hypnotizing stage presence and his superb sense of drama and suspense, he is sure to put yet another dance floor under his spell at The Blues Garden 2017.
Rounding off our list is the last of three local blues talents, ready to boost us through the weekend’s final hours with their electric groove. Take a big bucket of unpolished Mississippi juke joint boogie and blend it with another bucket of laid back down home blues. Add a teacup of swamp pop, a tablespoon of hillbilly and a pound of profane, ecstatic gospel and you´ll have the Kokomo Kings. The band is Martin Abrahamsson on guitar and vocals, Magnus Lanshammar on bass and guitar, Daniel Winerö on drums and Stefan Dafgård on harmonica.
We have prepered a bunch of eminent DJ’s for you. In addition to the lovely teachers Annette, Adamo, Vicci, and Andrew we will also have Tracy Karkut-Law from London as our late night DJ. On Sunday night we also have Steve Lade from Stockholm.
